Since 1 October 2026: EORI only via the customs portal

Apply for your German EORI number
guided through every click

The Customs Portal Companion shows you with real screenshots where to sign in, what each field means and when to press "Absenden". The number itself is free at customs. You only pay for the guide.

  • Every click explained: real screenshots from the customs portal, highlighted where you click
  • Your route, not a generic one: guide matched to your legal form and login (ELSTER, online ID card, BundID)
  • You stay in control: your own account, your data, you submit. Nobody gets your credentials
  • Ready immediately: access right after payment, valid 90 days, progress saved

Private service, not a government offer. Applying directly at customs is free at any time. Guide in German.

Why a guide?

The portal is good. It just does not explain itself.

Four form steps, three login methods, a dozen technical terms. If you know the way, it takes 20 minutes.

Email & password is not enough, but nothing tells you loudly

Fields without explanation

Frequently asked questions

Why do I apply myself instead of you doing it?

Since 1 October 2026 the application must be filed through the customs portal, which pre-fills your master data from your own identification. A third party cannot do that for you, and credentials are not something you hand over. So we guide you instead of filing.

I only order small parcels under €150. Do I still need an EORI number?

For business purchases yes, from the first shipment and regardless of value. Since 1 July 2026 the €150 duty exemption is gone: low-value parcels carry a flat customs duty of €3 per tariff line, and a handling fee is due to follow by November 2026. Marketplaces and carriers collect those charges but require the EORI number of business recipients. Private individuals do not need one as long as they trigger fewer than ten customs declarations a year.

What does the EORI number cost at customs?

Nothing. The number is free. With us you only pay for the guide: a one-off €69.90.

Which login do I need for the customs portal?

Sole traders, freelancers and private individuals: German online ID card with the AusweisApp, BundID or an ELSTER account. Companies (GmbH, UG, AG, KG, OHG): according to the portal help only an ELSTER account on the company tax number. Email and password alone are not enough.

I have none of these logins yet. Can I still do it?

Yes, if your business is based in Germany. The guide then starts with the setup. Online ID card: a few minutes. ELSTER: 5 to 10 working days because the activation code comes by post.

My business is based outside Germany.

With an ELSTER account, a German online ID card or a BundID the guide works the same way. Without one of these you cannot access the portal, and we will not sell you a guide either. In that case contact customs directly: info.eori@zoll.de.

Is the guide in English?

The guide and the screenshots are in German, like the customs portal itself. The portal offers an English interface toggle; the field names in our guide match the German originals so you can find them either way.

Do you advise me on what to enter?

No. We explain how to operate the portal and what the fields mean as customs describes them. Whether and where you must register, or which entry is right in your case, is for the customs information service (+49 228 303-26050). That is legal advice, which we are not permitted to give.
